Project Natal – The Most Innovative Leap in Gaming Technology

Thanks to this competition, Microsoft unveiled its Project Natal for Xbox at last year’s E3 gaming conference. It has been launched to take on Nintendo’s Wii innovative motion sensor control system. Even so, Microsoft may well deny that but people think that it’s inspired by Wii’s system and it is meant to be a direct rival of Wii.
Playstation’s Eyetoy might come to mind when you read about Project Natal due to the fact Eyetoy is basically a motion capturing video camera like Project Natal. But the 3-D abilities of Project Natal are unquestionably significantly above that of Eyetoy. The game play becomes controller-less with the help of Project Natal on Xbox. Microsoft believes that this feature would certainly entice much more people who are unfamiliar with the video games world for the reason that these people don’t have to learn to use a controller when actively playing the games on Xbox 360.
Participants will be able to interact in the game or its setting directly through the use of every part of themselves in order to play in the video game. This specific feature will allow for further involvement with the game itself in comparison with the traditional controller and even to the Wii. Different movements that include feet, body, hands and even head are recognized by Project Natal. But the thing which has yet to be presented is how the system can handle the running or walking movements of the person.
In the earliest demonstrations of Project Natal it has been proven how the movements of participants are perfectly projected into the video game. There have been positive opinions of this system and the avid gamers are keen to discover how many titles will be readily available at the time Project Natal is actually released – the full choice will probably be announced at E3 2010.
There are a few older titles which currently work with the system such as Burnout Paradise. Ricochet is another video game that has been introduced to the game enthusiasts in the E3 2009 Press Conference. Within this game gamers have to hit the balls that are thrown continuously towards them by utilizing each and every part of their body. A game title from Steven Spielberg is in development too. An additional game from Rare which had developed Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark and Goldeneye is also in the works. Another game from Bungie named Halo: Reach, which is the next Halo title, is rumored to be made for Natal technology.
Compared to Wii, Microsoft may have more robust software support. Even though Nintendo wii has been shifting lots of consoles the revenue from the game titles are doing poorly when compared with Xbox 360 and Playstation. Together with the inclusion of backward compatibility of titles, it’s theorized that Xbox isn’t going to fail to shift game titles from the shelf as it has strong support already.
