Yesterday’s forms of entertainment were found in watching television, listening to the radio or watching DVDs. The generation of today demands more than just watching or listening. What they want is a more interactive form of entertainment, which is now made possible through video game systems.
If you are in your 20’s, you have experienced how much fun it is to play your Super Nintendo. Super Mario Brothers, Crash Bandicoot, Street Fighter, and Grand Turismo are just a few of the more famous games that you have enjoyed playing in your youthful days. The much younger generation of today is fond of their Sony PlayStation, X-Box Gaming Console, PSP and Nintendo Wii.
What do you think is the main reason why of today are considered more special than those of the past? Probably the best answer is because they are interactive. With the gaming consoles of the past, the joystick was the only accessory that was used in playing almost all video games of yesterday. Today, most of the video game systems require more than just the joystick and the monitor that we used when we were younger. New gadgets and accessories are introduced and designed to be used in playing these video games, depending on the gaming console that you prefer. More than just using your fingers, most of today’s video game systems require the movement of arms and legs in order to play the game the right way.
The main advantage of this is that the player is required to move additional muscles and is not just seated the whole day. This is primarily because he is obliged to do various movements with different parts of his body for the sake of playing the video game the proper way. Say the Nintendo Wii for example, it offers various games that allow physical activities while playing them. That way, not only is the player enjoying the game, he is also able to perform some simple exercises while playing.
Today’s video game systems are made more interactive, even the kids are very fond of playing them. In fact, even a 4-year old kid can now play certain video games. Since the graphics are much more sophisticated making them look like they are real, more and more people have become interested in playing these games. Their reasons vary and may be for the purpose of bonding with their families, relaxation away from studies or work, or just bonding with their best friend.
Most of these video game systems are very easy to use. For parents who have kids that are fond on playing those gaming consoles, make sure that you are able to supervise when they play certain games as they may not be suitable for their young age. Some games may introduce violence and this may affect your kid’s life as he grows up. Of course, these games do not intend to do harm to its audience, but just bring total entertainment for the whole family. Make sure that your kids are getting just enough play that they need to get. It’s much better to let them play video games that are appropriate for their understanding and age.
